Working together

Digital and hand-painted artwork for children’s books

I create illustrations for children’s books using both digital techniques and traditional media, depending on the needs of the project. My focus is always on storytelling, warmth, and illustrations that support the emotional heart of a book.

I work with independent authors, self-publishers, and small publishers on projects of varying scope and style.

Ways of Working

Every project is different, and I offer two main illustration approaches:

Digital Illustration

Digital illustration is a flexible and efficient option, well suited to self-publishing and print-on-demand platforms such as Amazon KDP.

Digital illustration is ideal for:

  • children’s picture books and early readers

  • projects with tighter timelines

  • authors working within defined budgets

  • books requiring easy revision and formatting.

Digital artwork is delivered in print-ready, high-resolution files suitable for publishing.

Traditional Illustration (Original Artwork)

Traditional illustration is created using physical materials such as gouach, beginning with pencil sketches on paper and built up through layers of paint.

Traditional artwork is well suited for:

  • story-driven books that benefit from texture and warmth

  • projects seeking a classic or hand-crafted feel

  • authors interested in original painted artwork

Painted illustrations are carefully scanned and prepared for print.

Original artworks may be available separately by arrangement.

What I Can Help With

  • Full children’s picture books

  • Interior illustrations and story spreads

  • Cover illustrations

  • Character development and world-building

I’m happy to discuss the most suitable approach, digital or traditional, based on your story, timeline, and publishing goals.

The Illustration Process

Each project begins with an initial discussion to understand your story, audience, and vision.

The process typically includes:

  • concept and sketch development

  • feedback and refinement

  • final illustration (digital or hand-painted)

  • preparation of print-ready files

Clear communication and thoughtful pacing are important to me, and I aim to make the process enjoyable and collaborative.

Availability

I take on a limited number of projects at a time to ensure each book receives focused attention.

Project timelines and scheduling are discussed in advance.
